After at least three years of delays, the Dream Hollywood
has opened one block from Hollywood Boulevard, marking the West Coast debut of
the lifestyle Dream brand.
Located in the district's Cahuenga Corridor of shops and restaurants,
the hotel was proposed in 2008 and was earmarked to be a Dream hotel in late
2011. At the time, the hotel was scheduled to open in 2013, but financing and
planning issues -- the hotel was originally slated to have 120 rooms but was
expanded to 178 -- caused the project to be held up.
Featuring a splashy, mid-century-modern design scheme by
Rockwell Architects, the hotel has five restaurants and bars, including TAO Asian
Bistro and Luchini Pizzeria. The lobby opens into an alley with additional
retail shops and boutiques.
True to its Hollywood pedigree, the hotel boasts a rooftop
pool, bar and DJ area with views of the Los Angeles Basin and Hollywood Hills.
The gym's programming is headed by celebrity trainer Gunnar
Peterson, and the hotel's 1,800-square-foot Guest House suite has a private
screening room.
Dream plans to open its next hotel in Nashville in 2018.
