The Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park London will undergo a
renovation that is due to be completed in spring 2018 and will include the
addition of two penthouse suites.
The 181-room hotel will remain open during the renovation.
The property will add a mix of Edwardian and art deco design
touches and will enlarge its spa. The hotel’s public areas will be redesigned
to maximize natural light.
The redesign will be overseen by Joyce Wang, who spearheaded
the renovation of the Mandarin Oriental Hong Kong.
The building, which affords guests views of Hyde Park and
the passing of the Royal Horse Guards, opened as a gentlemen’s club in 1889 and
has operated as a hotel since 1902.
The hotel underwent a $71 million renovation in 2000.
