In a change of plans, Mondrian to brand Park Avenue hotel

A New York site on Park Avenue previously earmarked for an SLS hotel will now be a Mondrian. Hospitality company SBE owns both brands.

The Mondrian Park Avenue will have 189 guestrooms, a 120-seat Cleo restaurant and a private rooftop meeting room.

Moin Development is redeveloping the 15-story former office building that was built in 1918, plus it is adding five floors to the top of the structure.

The hotel will be operated by Journal Hotels, which also operates the Hollywood Roosevelt and Chicago's Ambassador.

SBE acquired Mondrian when it bought Morgans Hotel Group last year for $802 million.
