Riu Hotels and Resorts has
acquired the Gresham Dublin and is rebranding the 323-room hotel. It is Riu’s first
hotel in Ireland.
The Riu Plaza The Gresham
Dublin will be the company’s sixth under its Riu Plaza urban brand, following
properties in New York, Miami, Panama, Guadalajara and Berlin.
Riu paid 92 million euros (about $110
million) for the hotel.
The property, which sits in a
building that’s almost 200 years old, is located on Dublin’s O’Connell Street.
The hotel was renovated in 2013
and will require “a few minor adjustments” to bring it up to Riu Plaza’s brand
standards, the hotel company said.
Riu operates more than 100 hotels
and resorts in 18 countries.
