San Juan's Normandie Hotel receives $8M upgrade

SAN JUAN -- The 173-room historic Normandie Hotel here completed an $8 million renovation.

Features include wireless access throughout the property, 7,000 square feet of meetings space, two 800-gallon fish tanks in the lobby, Art deco furnishings, two restaurants and lounges and a spa.

The hotel, which originally opened in 1942, was built by engineer Felix Benitez Rexach in the form of the ocean liner SS Normandie as a gift for his wife.
