Singapore's first hotel under Marriott International's JW Marriott luxury brand has opened on a site that combines a newly-built structure with the 1930s-era Drill Hall.
The JW Marriott Singapore South Beach, which is located near the city's Marina Bay district, has 634 rooms and boasts 30 pieces of art that include a 23-foot video-wall installation from South Korean artist Lee Lee Nam.
The hotel, whose interior was designed by architect Phillippe Starck, also boasts 19,000 square feet of meetings space, including a 6,000-square-foot ballroom built out of the historic Drill Hall.
The property has opened five food and beverage outlets, with four more to open by next June. The hotel also features an "Activity Table" for wine and cheese tastings; chef-led events and cultural programming; and a spa with 10 treatment rooms.
