LAS VEGAS -- The
southern Las Vegas area is set to welcome its first major casino
property, the $600 million South Coast Hotel and Casino, when the
660-room Boyd Gaming property opens its doors at 7 p.m. Dec. 22.
The South Coast
will feature a 16-screen movie theater, an 80,000-square-foot
casino, a 64-lane bowling center, separate race and sports books, a
bingo room, 150,000 square feet of meetings and convention space
and a 4,400-seat equestrian center.
A second
construction phase, slated for completion in the second quarter of
2006, will include an additional 695 guest rooms and suites, a
20,000-square-foot spa and fitness center and an outdoor recreation
area with a swimming pool and sand volleyball courts.
