The largest Holiday Inn Express in the U.S. has opened at
what used to be Honolulu's Maile Sky Court Hotel.
The 596-room Holiday Inn Express Waikiki is about three
blocks from Waikiki Beach and four blocks from the Hawaii Convention Center.
The 44-story tower features a fifth-floor Sky Deck that
offers guests a nine-hole miniature golf course, shuffleboard, chess boards, ping-pong
tables and a video game room.
The Maile Sky Court was built in 1984 and previously
operated under Aqua Hotels and Resorts' Lite Hotels division.
The property is also among a trio of hotels either opening
or reopening along a three-block stretch of Kuhio Avenue. The others are a
Hyatt Centric property and the Laylow, which is part of Marriott's Autograph
Collection of independently operated hotels.
