Boat Bike Tours is offering a Nile itinerary next year, having obtained permission to explore the country via e-bike.

The 13-day trip includes eight days of guided cycling and a Nile cruise on the Nebu, a luxury ship owned by Central Holidays.

The company says the Egypt tour is the first of its kind, enabling guests to "pedal where few travelers ever go," including the Giza Plateau among the pyramids. In Luxor, guests will cycle across the West Bank to reach the Valley of the Kings and Hatshepsut's Temple.

CEO Laurens Winkel calls it "the most innovative itinerary we've ever offered."

Egyptologists will meet with guests throughout their trip. Riders will bike anywhere from 4 to 32 miles a day.

The itinerary begins in Hurghada, a beach town on the Red Sea, and ends in Cairo. Riders will "cycle between temples and glide along quiet canal paths, exploring hidden corners few travelers see."

Guests will explore the country's temples, tour a Nubian village and visit the Aswan Nature Reserve and St. Bakhamious Monastery.

Prices start at 4,240 euros per person.
