Travel advisor tech platform Tern has added booking capability, enabling advisors to book Project Expedition's tours, activities and attractions.

Tern intends to add travel insurance providers Arch RoamRight, Faye, Trawick and Travel Insured International in the coming months.

"Advisors have been asking for this," Tern CEO David Shull said. "They want to work faster and serve clients better without having to leave the Tern platform."

Tern, founded in 2022, features itinerary building, a customer relationship management tool and commission reconciliation.

Tern's partnership with Project Expedition will enable advisors to search the supplier's catalog, add tours to itineraries, generate quotes and complete bookings all within the platform. It addresses what Tern calls the "longstanding challenge" of advisors not quoting tours "due to the friction of working across disconnected systems."

Shull stressed that Tern facilitates the booking and is not a host agency, meaning advisors retain their commission and relationships with clients and suppliers.

When insurance capability launches, advisors will be able to use Tern to gather quotes and facilitate client purchases on the platform.

"Making sure travelers are protected shouldn't be complicated," Shull said. "When advisors can gather insurance quotes right alongside the trip they're building, without leaving their workflow, it becomes a seamless part of serving clients well."
