Hyatt chief: ALG acquisition brings us closer to agents

Mark Hoplamazian, CEO of Hyatt Hotels Corp., told travel advisors attending Asta's Global Convention that bringing Apple Leisure Group (ALG) into the Hyatt portfolio will deepen the hospitality company's relationship with them.

"You play a critical role in the travel ecosystem," he told the audience in a prerecorded video. "We have a very special partnership with all of you and have learned a tremendous amount from you."

Hoplamazian said that in addition to enhancing relationships with advisors, the acquisition would also provide opportunities for their clients to engage with the hospitality company in new ways.

The company's chief commercial officer, Mark Vondrasek, who spoke in person, added that Hyatt was excited to come together with ALG "not just in the obvious reason of expanding our footprint in luxury and lifestyle, but because of the culture of the folks that lead that company. They think about purpose the way we think about purpose."
