Trafalgar and its sister tour companies are reaching out to
independent, home-based travel agents with quirky, humorous videos that feature
sales tips and information about their services.
Paul Wiseman, president
of Trafalgar USA, said in a statement that it's part of a new campaign by
parent company (the Travel Corporation) that specifically includes independent
agents.
“The Travel
Corporation and its family of brands, including Trafalgar and Brendan
Vacations, is currently working on a strategy to engage with independent agents
in a meaningful way. We recognize their value and the voice they have in
the travel community. By providing necessary support and tools, we
endeavor to be a great partner by helping them do their job but also to become
even better professional sellers of travel; www.confessionsofatravelagent.com/home-agent is an example of specific
support offered to this important community.”
He added that
more services and support tools will be shared in the upcoming months based on
research of independent travel agent needs.
The videos were
launched in early April to help agents close sales during the final peak weeks
of summer vacation bookings.
They consist of
a series of nine short videos that start
with anonymous agents complaining about the headaches of their job, labeled
“Confessions of a Travel Agent,” and then feature either Wiseman or Trafalgar home-based sales manager Ashley Vaughan offering tips, such
as selling more packages by converting cruise clients to tour clients and
taking steps to selling groups.
Wiseman said
that the tour company decided to create a campaign with humor to “grab agents'
attention and compel them to act instead of just deleting from their
already-over-flowing inbox.”
