Santana Foundation Awards Scholarships

GARDEN CITY, N.Y. -- The International Airlines Travel Agent Network's Ronald A. Santana Memorial Foundation awarded $5,000 in scholarships to six students or recent graduates, including four women already working at travel agencies.

The 1998 scholarships were:

  • $1,250 to Karen Schwartz, a leisure agent at Travel Horizons in Arlington, Va., who completed studies at the Carlson Travel Academy.
  • $1,250 to Donna Watson, a recent graduate of Florida International University's School of Hospitality Management at the MAST Academy in Miami.
  • $750 to Tiffany Erhard, an intern at BTI Americas in Middletown, Pa., to help earn an associate's degree in specialized business, focusing on travel operations.
  • $750 to Zhanna Moldovan, a corporate agent at American Express in New York, who attends New York University's Master of Science program in Tourism and Travel Management.
  • $500 to Kelly Gabel of South Haven, Mich., pursuing an associate's degree in travel and tourism administration at the Boyd School.
  • $500 to Marie Holcomb, a leisure agent at Adieu Travel in Dansville, N.Y., pursuing an associate's degree in tourism management at Fingerlakes Community College.
