NEW YORK -- Travel Guard launched a $2 million brand-building
advertising campaign to encourage the public to buy insurance when
booking trips.
Travel Guard said this is the first national ad campaign
sponsored by a travel insurance company.
The broadcast spots, which debuted on April 21, are scheduled to
appear on the Travel Channel, and print ads are appearing in large
daily newspapers.
The ads, which highlight in humorous ways the reasons travelers
most often need insurance, are timed to coincide with peak-season
travel and will run until September.
Travel Guard said it believes the campaign will produce more
travel insurance sales, and hence more income, for travel agencies,
as well.
