WASHINGTON -- Travel and tourism issues are getting a higher
priority in the White House -- at least that's what the Travel
Business Roundtable hopes after learning that two White House aides
are being given oversight of such issues.
David Beier, chief domestic policy advisor to Vice President
Gore, told the Travel Business Roundtable that the responsibility
is being given to Gene Sperling, special assistant to the president
and director of the National Economic Council.
Sperling will be assisted by Dorothy Robyn, special assistant to
the president for economic policy and senior staffer for the
National Economic Council.
