WALTHAM, Mass. -- E-Travel Inc., based here, announced that
American Airlines agreed to join the e-Travel Marketplace as a
direct-link participant.
The direct link enables e-Travel corporate customers to acquire
travel services from American Airlines at a lower cost than booking
air fares through a traditional booking system, said e-Travel,
because intermediary costs, such as CRS fees, are avoided.
As travel suppliers do not have to pay CRS fees through
direct-link technology, these savings can be passed on to corporate
buyers. E-Travel claims that customers who use its direct links to
buy airline tickets can save as much as 15% on an "average air
ticket."
The activation of the American Airlines link will be announced
at a later date. Continental and Delta are other airlines that
already have established active links on e-Travel's site.
Hertz and Amtrak also are part of the e-Travel Marketplace.
