Harmony Beach Park, the newest attraction in Jamaica's Montego Bay, is due to open in early spring and could prove a lifesaver for families who want to duck out of the resorts with the kids for a change of scenery.
There's no admission charge, and the park will have a full kiddie play area, multipurpose courts for basketball and netball and plenty of spaces for exercise, play, recreation, relaxation and sports.
A wide crescent-shaped beach is the focal point of the park. Food and beverage venues, retail shopping and entertainment are expected to be added in the coming months.
Miguel Arthurs, the park manager, described the park as "a fantastic space that offers many uses, especially for families. Many elements in the park will appeal to a wide range of people and interests."
The park, a flagship project of the Urban Development Corp., "will deliver a safe recreational space that will benefit residents and visitors," according to Arthurs.
