American Airlines launching daily flights to Dominica

Dominica’s Indian River. American Airlines plans to begin daily, nonstop service from Miami to the island in April.

American Airlines plans to launch daily service to Dominica on April 5. The airline had recently launched twice-weekly, nonstop flights to the island, the first carrier to do so from the U.S. mainland.

Prior to the April date, the schedule will increase to three flights per week, effective Jan. 10. Flights are to and from Miami.

Colin Piper, Dominica's director of tourism, said that the increase in flights "will be a major factor in establishing better relationships with U.S. tour operators and travel agents and will result in more business for hoteliers and service providers in Dominica.
