The Bermuda Tourism Authority named Douglas Trueblood as its chief sales and marketing officer, filling a key post left vacant when Victoria Isley departed last fall.

Trueblood will manage all aspects of the authority's sales, marketing and communications, guided by the Bermuda National Tourism Plan, a five-year strategy launched in 2018.

He joins the authority after recently serving in a senior leadership role at the Nassau Paradise Island Promotion Board in the Bahamas; before that he held positions with destinations, resorts and theme parks in the U.S., Singapore, Japan, Dubai and Poland.

Bermuda Tourism Authority chairman Wayne Caines said that Trueblood "has the global experience, skillset and energy needed to lead our sales and marketing efforts at this unique moment in history," and he added that "Bermuda's pandemic management and the BTA's strategy-building have the island's tourism product well positioned for recovery as the world prepares to return to travel."
