|

The recent general elections in the Bahamas resulted in a victory for the Free National Movement party and the ouster of the Progressive Liberal Party led by former prime minister Perry Christie.

Hubert Minnis, the new prime minister, swore in his cabinet on May 15, which included Dionisio D'Aguilar as the minister of tourism and aviation, with responsibility for Bahamasair, the national flag carrier.

D'Aguilar, a businessman who is president and CEO of Superwash, the largest chain of self-service laundries in the Bahamas, formerly was the president of the Bahamas Chamber of Commerce and has served on numerous boards of directors.

He succeeds Obie Wilchcombe in the tourism post.
