MONTEGO BAY,
Jamaica -- The Ritz-Carlton Golf & Spa Resort, Rose Hall was
back in business July 1, following a two-month closure due to water
damage from heavy rains in the Rose Hall area of Montego Bay in
late April.
We have used the
time that the resort has been closed to not only repair the damage
to the infrastructure systems, but also to enhance the interior and
exterior of the property, said Martin Nicholson, general manager.
Were returning better than ever with the same exceptional service
our guests have come to expect.
Enhancements
include new wooden floors in Jasmines and Horizons restaurants, new
flora and fauna on the resort grounds, and installation of new
switchboard technology.
Guest bookings
during the period that the 427-room resort was closed were diverted
to other Ritz-Carlton properties in the Caribbean, Florida and
Mexico, so no substantial business was lost, according to
Nicholson. Some guests opted to postpone their travels until the
property reopened.
Even though the
property is getting a late start on summer business, bookings are
strong, and were looking forward to carrying that into the fall and
beyond, Nicholson said.
The Ritz-Carlton
numbers reflect a trend in Jamaica, where tourist numbers increased
4% in the first four months over the corresponding period last
year.
The resort, 15
minutes from Sangster Airport in Montego Bay, features an 18-hole
golf course, a spa, five dining outlets, more than 25,000 square
feet of meetings and conventions space, the Ritz Kids program, a
pool and water sports.
Group rates
through Dec. 20 start at $129 per room, per night, double, and $365
for accommodations with meals. Winter group rates range from $229
to $329 per room, per night, double; with meals, the daily group
rate starts at $489 through April 30.
Individual daily
rates in summer and fall begin at $215 per room, per night, double;
the winter price is $549 from Dec. 20 through Jan. 4 and $329 from
Jan. 4 through the end of April.
Capturing a
larger share of the family market, which constitutes a sizable
chunk of the resorts business, led to the creation of the Reconnect
package, aimed at families, extended families and
friends.
A one-night rate
starts at $279 per person, double, through Dec. 17 and covers a
choice of gardenview, oceanview or suite accommodations, a daily
breakfast buffet for two at Horizons and the choice of an
aromatherapy massage or one sugarcane body scrub per
stay.
The Witchs Spell
golf package, valid until Dec. 19, covers deluxe accommodations,
single or double; all meals and selected beverages; taxes and
service charges; and two rounds of golf per day for two, including
the use of a golf cart.
The rate starts
at $795 per room, double, plus a 13% resort fee, which covers use
of the fitness center, tennis courts, nonmotorized water sports,
transport to the golf course, nearby Half Moon shopping village and
Rose Hall Great House and early-morning coffee service in the
lobby.
