Rosalie Bay Eco-Resort in southeastern Dominica will reopen on Feb. 1 with the official celebration set for the weekend of Feb. 15.

The 28-room resort has been closed since Hurricane Maria slammed the island in September 2017.

Rosalie Bay is offering a reopening special with a 40% discount off room rates when booked by Feb. 29 for stays from Feb. 1 to May 31, or 30% off rates for reservations booked between March 1 to May 31 for visits from June 1 to Aug. 31.

The discounts apply to stays of two or more nights. Rates begin as low as $112 per night, double (regularly $186), and include Continental breakfast with locally sourced food items, wifi and fees and taxes.

The resort reopening coincides with the annual arrival of nesting sea turtles. From February through October, three species of the turtles, including the 1,000-pound leatherbacks, arrive in the waters off Dominica.

Guests can assist in the turtle nesting by helping hatchlings take their first steps on Rosalie's black-sand beach to begin life at sea.
