Sanctuary Cap Cana, the adults-only, all-inclusive resort located in Cap Cana, a 30,000-acre private retreat within Punta Cana, wrapped  up its $45 million renovation project.

A ceremony was attended by Dominican Republic president Daniel Medina, Sanctuary owner Francisco Martinez and the chairman of Playa Hotels & Resorts, Bruce Wardinski, which manages the resort.

Upgrades included the redesign of all suites, the addition of two towers, which increased the room count by 140 suites for a total of 325, a new lobby and a redo of the 20,000-square-foot Sanctuary Spa and fitness center.

Facilities include five a la carte and buffet restaurants; six bars; five pools, including a saltwater pool; an array of water sports tennis; the Punta Espada golf course; a marina; and a shopping galleria.

Current rates start at $401 per night, double.
