Crystal became the first cruise line to resume cruising from New York City, with the Crystal Symphony departing on Sept. 24 on a seven-day roundtrip Bermuda sailing.
The voyage is the first in a series of nine weeklong cruises departing Manhattan every Friday through Nov. 19. The ship had been sailing Bermuda itineraries from Boston since late August.
All guests and crew on the Symphony must be fully vaccinated, and the vessel is operating with reduced capacity.
The ship was originally scheduled to offer 10-day Caribbean cruises from Antigua and St. Maarten this season, but the line canceled the season citing lack of airlift and higher demand for cruises from U.S. ports.
New York City Economic Development Corp. CEO Rachel Loeb said the ship's departure was "a sign of New York City's recovery."
"The cruise industry helps generate millions of dollars in tourism revenue across the city, bolstering Broadway, restaurants, museums and other special events that translate into jobs for New Yorkers," Loeb said.
NCL's Norwegian Breakaway will start sailing a series of Bermuda cruises from New York on Sept. 26.
Royal Caribbean's Oasis of the Seas was the first cruise ship to resume sailing from the greater New York area when it began sailing from Bayonne, N.J., on Sept. 12.
