MSC Cruises is replacing its 2024-2025 winter in the Red Sea with a season in the Canary Islands.
The MSC Opera will sail seven-night itineraries with six ports of call between Nov. 3 and March 16, 2025.
The line will also offer a new itinerary during the season with flexible embarkation options and extended stays in port. The ship will sail roundtrip from Santa Cruz de Tenerife in Tenerife with calls in Las Palmas in Gran Canaria, Puerto del Rosario in Fuerteventura, Funchal in Madeira, Santa Cruz de la Palma in La Palma and Arrecife in Lanzarote.
Guests will have flexible embarkation options to sail from Santa Cruz de Tenerife on Sundays, Las Palmas on Mondays, Funchal on Thursdays or Fridays, or Arrecife on Saturdays.
Sailing a season in the Canary Islands replaces the line's planned winter in the Red Sea, which MSC canceled due to attacks on shipping vessels by Houthi militants in Yemen. Several cruise lines have canceled sailings there.
Correction: This is not the first time MSC Cruises will base a ship in the Canary Islands.
