Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings extended its operations pause through the end of the year for its three brands, Norwegian Cruise Line, Oceania Cruises and Regent Seven Seas.

The company had previously suspended all cruises through November.

The decision to cancel cruises through Dec. 31 comes on the heels of the CDC's lifting the No Sail Order for cruise ships on Friday, ending a more than seven-month ban on large cruise ship operations in U.S. waters, setting the stage for cruising to resume, but under a framework that cruise lines will have to adhere to in order to certify that they can prevent the spread of Covid-19 on their ships, including a requirement that ships conduct test sailings prior to restarting commercial operations.
