Luxury cruise line Silversea has unveiled the look of interior spaces at its hotel on the southern tip of South America, The Cormorant at 55 South.
Scheduled to open in October, the 150-room hotel is in Puerto Williams, Chile, and will welcome Antarctica guests who purchase fly-cruise packages.
The Cormorant's public spaces are designed to "foster relaxation, reflection and discovery, blending Silversea's signature elegance with the raw beauty of Patagonia," the cruise line said. Cozy lounges, and panoramic views of the surrounding wilderness "invite guests to pause and connect with the spirit of the far south."
The Fireplace Lounge
Inspired by the region's reverence for fire as a symbol for gathering, hospitality and storytelling, the Fireplace Lounge will serve as a place of retreat, with a variety of plush seating.
"Sweeping vistas of the Patagonian landscape unfold from the lounge's expansive windows, as guests enjoy the comforting warmth of a one-of-a-kind fireplace," Silversea said.

Latitude 55
Silversea calls the Latitude 55 restaurant "a culinary experience rooted in Chilean flavors."
Named for the hotel's location near the 55th parallel south of the equator, the restaurant will have a menu "blending regional staples with chef-inspired creations."
In the evening, the restaurant will do a family-style gathering that "sparks stories of adventure and anticipation of the journey to come."

Bar Sur
Bar Sur will serve as the social heart of The Cormorant, offering teas and small bites by day and wines and spirits by night, all inspired by regional flavors.
There will be Patagonian wine tastings and a class in which guests learn to make cocktails with Chilean pisco, a grape brandy.

The Cormorant's guestrooms
Each of The Cormorant's 150 guestrooms will "invite guests to recharge before or after their voyage."
Rooms offer forest views or water vistas of the Beagle Channel. The interiors feature warm wood tones and earthy elements. Every room will display handcrafted items created by Chilean artisans.

After guests arrive in Chile on their flight to Santiago, a charter flight will bring fly-cruise guests to Puerto Williams for a one-night stay at the hotel. It will be a place for respite before guests board a private plane to King George Island in Antarctica, a flight that enables them to skip cruising the rough waters of the Drake Passage.
Silversea said the hotel will "streamline travel to one of the world's most remote destinations, while enhancing the overall guest experience."
Upon return from their cruise, guests will again take a private plane to Puerto Williams and stay overnight at the hotel before flying back to Santiago.
