The Ritz-Carlton Maui, Kapalua's annual Celebration of the Arts, now in its 32nd year, is taking place over the weekend of March 29-30. This year's theme is "E Kamau ke Kuleana ... The Privilege and Responsibility Perseveres," and it focuses on the importance of the next generation to maintain traditions.

"We are delighted to welcome back Hawaiian cultural experts and artisans to share their craft with residents and visitors," said Clifford Naeole, Hawaiian cultural advisor at The Ritz-Carlton Maui, Kapalua, who has served as the event chair for its 32 years, in a press release. "By sharing our culture and knowledge, a sincere appreciation comes for all things past and prepares us for things to come."

Events include a sunrise ceremony, panel discussions, films, hula performances, a medicinal plant tour, a Polynesian wayfinding session, a kapa making demonstration and a local marketplace with over 50 artisans and crafters.

All daytime events are free and open to the public. The Celebration Music Showcase with Weldon Kekauoha on March 29 and the Celebration of the Arts Luau on March 30 require tickets.
