Sea Life Park on Oahu is kicking off the year with a slate of family-friendly experiences that focus on marine life and conservation.
First is the Whale Festival, which is held Saturday, Sundays and Monday through March 9 and daily from March 14 to 22. It will highlight humpback whales and include activities such as whale watching, engaging presentations about whale behavior and insights and interactive learning opportunities for young kids.
Additionally, on Feb. 21, 22 and 23, local artist Patrick Ching will be on hand to illustrate pictures of humpback whales that guests may then take to color or paint.
On March 22, families can participate in a beach cleanup event, with hands-on learning opportunities. It starts with a community beach cleanup from 8 to 10 a.m., followed by activities on park grounds, including face painting, a live DJ and educational games.
