The
presidential elections are still more than two months away, but luxury
hotels in the Washington area are rolling out the red carpet for next
year's inaugural events.
These early offerings are nonrefundable,
so anyone who books now must either be pretty confident that their man
or woman will win the contest, or simply intent on witnessing history
however it turns out.
Political junkies might be willing to take
an early chance on the W's $500,000 inauguration package, which includes
three nights in the hotel's luxurious EWow (i.e. Extreme Wow) Suite,
which is the trendy brand's take on the presidential suite; the EWow
suite includes a bathtub view of the Washington Monument.
The the
500K includes a private ball for 250 on the hotel's rooftop, which has a
White House view; first class airfare for two; in-room spa and beauty
treatments; a shopping spree; unlimited Veuve Clicquot with a
commemorative engraved bottle to mark the occasion; and other perks.
The hotel said it is the first time it has put together such an over-the-top package.
Asked if they thought anyone would book before they know who wins, general manager Meade Atkinson said, "This election has garnered a lot of interest from people who want to be close to the action.
He added: "We're excited to offer them a one-of-a-kind experience."
And
if someone does book early and their candidate loses? "The package is
nonrefundable, but the great thing about W Washington DC is that we are
truly a bipartisan hotel, and it's a great place to cross the party
line," Atkinson said. "Or just party!"
Those looking for a
little less party and more history, not to mention a lower price, might
be interested in a package from the Ritz-Carlton Pentagon City.
Starting
at $1,799 a night for a three-night minimum, the package includes a
suite with club lounge access, a presidential-themed welcome amenity,
parking, Metro passes, a Go Pro and VIP passes to the Newseum's 2017
Presidential Inauguration Celebration Experience on Jan. 20.
