Radisson Hotel Group continues its rapid expansion across Africa, building on a record year of growth in 2023, when the company signed eight deals that added 1,600 rooms to its inventory.
The hotel company plans to open five hotels across key African markets like Egypt, Morocco, and South Africa. Among the additions this year is the first Radisson hotel in Morocco, the Radisson Hotel Casablanca Gauthier, set to open in the second quarter. Radisson will also debut its luxury Radisson Collection brand in Egypt with the Radisson Collection Resort Marsa Alam Port Phoenice.
The expansion also includes Radisson's first safari hotel in Africa: the Radisson Safari Hotel Hoedspruit in South Africa. The 138-room property opened recently near Kruger National Park, marking the company's 11th hotel in South Africa.
Rapid growth
The company's growth is being driven by a focus on resort-style properties and expansion into new markets like Kenya and Tanzania. Over the past three years, Radisson has emerged as the fastest-growing hotel group in Africa, with 20 openings. Among the 2023 openings were its first properties in Nigeria and Gambia.
"We have an exciting year ahead with five hotel openings in Africa, reinforcing our market leader stance in our key countries such as Egypt, Morocco and South Africa but also maintaining the fastest growth across the continent in tangible openings," said Ramsay Rankoussi, vice president of business development for Africa and Turkey.
With 100 hotels on the continent now and plans for 150 over the next five years, Radisson is cementing its position as a dominant player in the African hospitality market.
