A new international airport is in the cards for Seychelles for 2019 to meet the growing tourist demand.

Foreign affairs and transport minister Joel Morgan said the airport will "capture the essence of Seychelles and its culture, be efficient, represent and have in place state of the art technology and most importantly, be environmentally friendly and incorporate renewable energy systems."

David Germain of the Seychelles Tourism Board explained that the facility will provide a significant improvement in the handling of passengers to and from the country and for passengers traveling to the other islands.
