The Redbury South Beach Hotel, a fixture on Miami Beach's Collins Avenue since the early 1950s, has been sold and will be expanded.

Blue Road, a Miami development company led by principals Jorge Savloff and Marcelo Tenenbaum, purchased the Redbury for $32 million. Blue Road's plan is to demolish the adjacent Hotel 18, which the company acquired in November, and construct an extension to the 69-room Redbury. The project will be designed by Miami-based architect Kobi Karp, resulting in a total of 138 rooms upon completion.

The Redbury and its restaurant, Cleo, will remain open during this process. Cleo features a Mediterranean-inspired menu created by chef Danny Elmaleh.

"This acquisition reflects our perpetual confidence in South Beach as a thriving tourism destination, and in the growing popularity of boutique hotels among travelers who enjoy 'off the beaten path' experiences," said Tenenbaum. "We are also optimistic about the Redbury's well-recognized international brand, and its ability to draw visitors in South Beach and other markets. This belief strongly influenced our decision to annex the former Hotel 18, allowing us to welcome more guests to the hotel."

The acquisition is Blue Road's third in Miami Beach in the past 12 months; in addition to the Redbury and Hotel 18, the company bought the Crest Hotel last September.

"We are delighted to add the Redbury to our existing collection of 10 South Beach boutique hotels," said Savloff. "With the very popular Cleo restaurant, this is certainly a sophisticated and glamourous addition to our growing collection."
