Hotel properties, like people, have a tendency to show their age with wilting fabrics, scratched furniture, stained carpets and outdated decor. Hotels live hard, and Las Vegas resorts perhaps even more so. So it's natural that Strip properties need a little nip and tuck every now and then, and this year the Flamingo is going under the knife.
The Flamingo Las Vegas, which celebrated its 70th anniversary last year, will renovate 1,270 of its 3,500 rooms to the tune of $90 million beginning in August. Designed by Forrest Perkins, the first updated rooms should be ready for guests in November, with the project scheduled for completion in the second quarter of 2018.
The refreshed rooms nod to the resort's past and present with a mix of retro and contemporary furnishings. The color scheme references champagne with gold tones and pink accents that have long been emblematic of the tropical Flamingo.
These renovations come on the heels of major investments in room upgrades across other Caesars Entertainment properties. In 2016, the company updated more than 4,800 rooms at Caesars Palace, Planet Hollywood, Paris Las Vegas and Harrah's. By the end of this year, more than half of the company's Vegas hotel rooms will have been renovated since 2014.
