An attraction billed as Florida's first snow park has opened in Dade City, northeast of Tampa.

SnowCat Ridge boasts a 60-foot tall, 400-foot-long hill that's covered with artificial snow, where riders can descend on single, tandem or family-style inflated tubes. At the base there is an indoor snow shed called Arctic Igloo, featuring a small hill for children and space to make snow angels as well as an Alpine Village with shops or food.

Promoters say they can make the outdoor snow stick during Florida's less-than-chilly winter months. Snowcat Ridge opened just before Thanksgiving and is scheduled to keep the snow blowing through sometime in March.

To manage capacity during the pandemic, patrons are advised to reserve their time at Snowcatridge.com. General admission tickets are $24.95 for a two-hour session on the slides and unlimited time indoors, with children under two free.
