The Smith Center's 2017-2018 Broadway Las Vegas series will feature nine different Broadway shows, the Downtown Las Vegas performing arts center announced last month.
With the Strip mostly bereft of musicals, once a staple of the casino theaters, the Smith Center has become the primary venue for seeing Broadway shows. The 2016-2017 Broadway Las Ve-gas lineup included "Fun Home," the 2015 Tony winner for best musical, and "Finding Never-land."

The Smith Center's 2017-2018 Broadway Las Vegas series includes the smash "Hamilton."
The 2017-2018 series kicks off on Aug. 8 with "Something Rotten! " (through Aug. 13), a musical set in 1595 about brothers struggling to make it in the theater business while competing with industry darling William Shakespeare.
Rounding out the 2017 productions are "The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time" (Sept.19 to 24), Disney's "The Little Mermaid" (Oct. 3 to 8), Rodgers & Hammerstein's "The King & I" (Oct. 25 to 29) and "The Bodyguard The Musical" (Nov. 21 to 26).
In 2018, the series continues with the 20th anniversary tour of "Rent" (Jan. 30 to Feb. 4); "Love Never Dies" (March 20 to 25), Andrew Lloyd Webber's sequel to "Phantom of the Opera;" The Color Purple (April 24 to 29) and cultural phenomenon "Hamilton" (May 29 to June 24).
