Hurtigruten is expanding to Alaska with itineraries focused on the state's Inside Passage and Aleutian Islands.
The expedition cruise operator has limited availability on select Alaska tours departing in late summer 2019.
In 2020, several 14- to 18-day tours will spotlight the glaciers, wildlife, villages and cultural attractions of Alaska. The northbound and southbound excursions include stops in various Southeast Alaska communities and parks; some will also explore the coast of British Columbia.
Hurtigruten's 2020 Alaska season concludes with a Northwest Passage tour departing from Nome.
The company's new Alaska outings will travel on the new MS Roald Amundsen, a hybrid electric-powered ship entering service in 2019. Named for the Norwegian explorer who was the first man to reach the South Pole, it's the first of two environmentally minded vessels that Hurtigruten will introduce over the next two years.
The Roald Amundsen features an onboard science center, a bilevel, indoor-outdoor observation deck, three restaurants and artwork chosen by Queen Sonja of Norway's art foundation.
