Mirage's Cravings buffet takes the action tableside

The buffet gets an upgrade with Mirage's new Chef's Table experience.

According to Merriam-Webster, a buffet is "a meal set out on a buffet or table for ready access and informal service." Which makes the new Chef's Table experience at the Mirage's Cravings Buffet something else entirely, a VIP island of personal service inside the feed-yourself frenzy of an all-you-can-eat classic.

In an era of Strip buffet one-upmanship, from the Cosmopolitan's individual portions of bone marrow to Bacchanal's expansive selection, the Chef's Table adds a level of service usually reserved for, well, sit-down restaurants to the buffet's gluttonous variety.

Cravings Servers will present a multi-course menu with exclusive dishes and table-side preparations, like tossed-to-order salads and hand-carved meats, while diners are welcome to peruse the regular buffet stations too. At $49.99 for dinner Monday-Thursday and $52.99 for dinner over the weekend, the Chef's Table includes bottomless soft drinks, beer and wine.

And while it's a new concept for the Mirage, the private dining buffet experience isn't a novel idea altogether in Las Vegas. Edmund Wong, Mirage V.P. of food and beverage, previously introduced the Chef's Table option at the Bellagio, where diners can also reserve seats for an exclusive meal presented by chefs inside the resort's opulent dining hall.

"Our goal with Chef's Table is to create one-of-a-kind culinary moments that engage all the senses for a truly memorable dining experience," Wong said.
