The Las Vegas Strip is a practiced chameleon. It is a little bit Paris and a little New York. It channels Italian lakes and Venetian canals, masquerades as medieval Europe and ancient Egypt. But despite all these guises, it is always Las Vegas, a buffet of adult indulgences, from lavish spas to sizzling steakeries and shows that literally burst into flame.
Las Vegas' latest disguise is the south of France, channeled via the new pool at Sydell and MGM Resorts' Park MGM resort. Created by Martin Brudnizki Design Studio, the "pool" is actually a sprawling aquatic environment with three separate pools, an oversized spa and various bars and lounges. Twelve cabanas offer private seating and exclusive amenities like personal TVs, safes and misting systems, while chaise reservations come with complimentary perks like frozen grapes and specialty drinks. The cocktail menu leans heavily on tropical flavors and frozen favorites, including a rum-spiked frosé (frozen rosé), while food options focus on refreshing fare like salads and poke bowls.
The color scheme emphasizes a muted teal, from the crisp stripes of sun umbrellas to round wicker daybeds piled with pillows. Desert-friendly plantings are scattered throughout the site, including mature trees, and are meant to reference a country estate. And if you can't quite shake the Vegas in this French-inspired landscape, don't fret. Just order another frosé.
