Vacations By Rail debuted its Alaska Circle Tour Rail & Car tour this month, spotlighting attractions in Anchorage, Fairbanks and Denali National Park
The eight-day, seven-night outing starts and ends in Anchorage, and includes an Alaska Railroad trip to Denali, a full-day bus tour in the park, wildlife-watching experiences and continued railroad passage to Fairbanks. There, guests can visit the Museum of the North and the Morris Thompson Cultural Center, take a Chena River boat tour or hike trails in and around Alaska's Golden Heart City.
Travelers depart Fairbanks by rental car (mileage is included in the package price) and travel the Richardson Highway from Fairbanks to Valdez. Optional kayak tours, scenic boat cruises, wildlife tours and other adventures are available before a ferry trip from Valdez to Whittier and a closing drive back to Anchorage
Rates for the eight-day tour start at $2,555 per person.
New tours on the 2020 Vacations By Rail schedule include aurora-viewing itineraries at Chena Hot Springs and Bettles Lodge and a nine-day wilderness adventure.
