Relevent Sports and Visit Orlando have joined forces for a multiyear partnership presenting the International Champions Cup, a summer soccer tournament featuring the world's best clubs, including Real Madrid, Manchester United, FC Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Chelsea and Liverpool.
It's also the first time that the ICC has partnered with a destination tourism organization, providing Orlando significant destination exposure in other cities as the tournament is played in iconic venues such as the Rose Bowl, Yankee Stadium and Wembley Stadium.
The 2016 tournament hosted nearly 800,000 attendees and and attracted 70 million global television viewers. As part of the deal, Orlando will host one of the premiere matches in both 2017 and 2018 at the 66,000-seat Camping World Stadium, which recently got a $206.6 million overhaul. Match dates, venues and clubs will be announced in March.
"Orlando is the top tourist destination in the United States, and the ICC is the premium football competition in the country, so we are preparing for a world-class match with an incredible atmosphere," said Charlie Stillitano, chairman of Relevant Sports.
"The ICC tournament attracts the most recognized teams in soccer, and its global influence will further reinforce Orlando as a premier destination where sports fans can also visit with families and take advantage of all that a vacation here has to offer," said George Aguel, President and CEO of Visit Orlando.
