Because of high demand, AmaWaterways said it plans to add eight river ships to its Europe fleet by 2030. These eight newbuilds are in addition to the ships that were already scheduled to arrive in 2026 and 2027.

More information on the ships is expected in the coming months.

AmaWaterways' next Europe ship to debut will be the AmaSofia in spring 2026. It will sail the Rhine and Danube. At least two more Europe ships are coming in 2027 -- the AmaRudi and AmaFiora.

The AmaRudi, named for AmaWaterways co-founder and longtime CEO Rudi Schreiner, will be a double-wide Danube ship like its sister, the AmaMagna, which debuted in 2019. The AmaFiora will cruise the Rhine.

AmaWaterways currently has 27 ships worldwide -- 23 in Europe (including three on the Douro in Portugal). With orders for eight more ships, AmaWaterways plans to have a global fleet of 40 ships by 2030.

The line also has two Nile ships in Egypt and one each on the Mekong and Magdalena rivers in Vietnam/Cambodia and Colombia, respectively. A second Colombia ship, the AmaMelodia, is due to arrive this October. A second Mekong ship, AmaMaya, is due in 2026.
