ARC said it has processed more than $1 billion in airline refunds
to travel agencies in the United States since the coronavirus pandemic began, a
558% increase.
From March 9 to July 12, ARC said it paid e $745 million
in refunds in cash. The remainder was applied as credit to agency sales.
ARC said it has adapted to accommodate the increased refund
volume, which still exceed sales for many airlines.
“Just as we are committed to delivering payment to airlines
for ticket sales, ARC made it a priority to ensure agencies received the full
balance of their cash refunds on time and in full, maintaining a constant flow
of liquidity between airlines and travel agencies,” said ARC executive vice
president and COO Lauri Reishus.
