Travel agency air bookings have dipped amid a spike in new Covid-19
cases in the U.S.
For the week ending June 28, there was a 77% year-over-year
decline in air transactions, compared with a 76.5% decline for the week ending
June 21, reported ARC.
It was the second week in a row that transactions decreased.
For the week ending June 14, air bookings were down 75.2%.
The declines reversed what had been a nearly two-month trend
of rising air transactions after airlines hit bottom in the week of April 12,
when transactions were down 93.8%.
Last week saw the most reported cases of Covid-19 yet, according
to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, including two days that set
single-day records. Thirty-six states reported a rise in cases, sparking new
restrictions in portions of the country on beaches, restaurants and bars.
