Alaska Airlines will make Miami its 100th nonstop destination from its Seattle hub.

The daily transcontinental service will begin on June 16. Tickets are now on sale.

The Miami flight will augment Alaska's service to Fort Lauderdale, which the carrier launched in 2012.

Alaska's move into Miami follows its March entry into the Oneworld Alliance. Several Oneworld airlines serve Miami, most notably Alaska partner American, which maintains Miami as a hub for its Latin America and Caribbean operations.

"Think Seattle to Miami, then onward to locations such as Rio de Janeiro, Buenos Aires or the U.S. Virgin Islands," Alaska said in a press release.

American is currently the lone carrier that flies Seattle-Miami, offering daily service.

Hello, Cleveland

Alaska also recently announced plans to expand its Ohio service.

Daily Seattle-Cleveland service will begin June 16, and Alaska the same day will add second daily flights from Seattle to both Cincinnati and Columbus. That will make Alaska the only airline with direct service between Seattle and all three of Ohio's largest cities, according to the carrier.

Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine said, "Alaska Airlines' decision to choose Cleveland for nonstop service to Seattle will connect Northeast Ohio's financial services sector, healthcare systems and tech industries to markets on the West Coast and Asia, while also giving the West Coast easier opportunities to do business in Northeast Ohio."
