Delta says flight attendant who posted racially charged tweets is no longer on staff

|

Delta Air Lines has confirmed that a flight attendant criticized for her tweets about the Black Lives Matter movement and other issues related to race is no longer with the company.

A June 10 post on the Jetiquette website showed screen captures of several tweets from Kevin Lee Jennings, posted under the handle @KevinTheFlyGirl, dating from September 2017 to June 2020.

"Are we going to #takeaknee at The Olympic Games?" reads a tweet dated Sept. 24, 2017, referring to the protest movement spurred by former NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick. "How embarrassing that notion is. Grow up people."

(The @KevinTheFlyGirl account is set to private as of this writing.)

Actor-comedian Brad Loekle linked to the Jetiquette post in a June 10 tweet urging Delta to "stop protecting this racist."

In response to Loekle, Delta tweeted that "it's our responsibility to create and uphold an inclusive, equitable workplace for all. We have zero tolerance for racism, bigotry and hateful acts and therefore we are conducting a full investigation."

In a memo to Delta employees dated June 11, CEO Ed Bastian echoed that response, adding that "racial and other bigoted, hateful and offensive comments on social media by Delta people [hurt] our culture and our people."

According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Delta did not say whether Jennings had quit, been fired or taken the company's early retirement program.
