Denver International Airport has completed a 39-gate, $2.3 billion expansion.
The first flights out of a new 12-gate section on the west end of the airport's Concourse A took off Saturday. Flights out of a new 10-gate section on the east of Denver's Concourse B began on Oct. 20.
All 22 of the gates have been leased by United, giving the carrier 90 gates from which to operate at its Denver hub.
The other 13 gates in the expansion project opened previously. Last spring, a Southwest expansion area on the east end of Concourse C opened, and a smaller United expansion area on the west side of Concourse B opened in late 2020.

The Concourse A expansion area includes six gates that can accommodate international flights. One feature of the Concourse B expansion area is a market-style United Club lounge, which United says is the first of its kind for a U.S. airline.
The lounge is designed for quick grab-and-go access and is smaller than typical United Club designs. Club members in a hurry to reach their gate can enter by scanning their boarding passes at automated entry gates, then select snacks and nonalcoholic beverages free of charge at self-service counters. They can then exit without a checkout line.
The lounge also offers a full-service coffee bar.
