Eastern Airlines will add the first nonstop flights between New York and Los Cabos, Mexico, beginning Aug. 29, the company said.

Steve Harfst, Eastern's president and CEO, said the airline will fly between New York JFK and Los Cabos on Saturdays and Wednesdays.

Rodrigo Esponda, managing director of the Los Cabos Tourism Board, said after years of trying to add nonstop service to the Big Apple, "we now have a fantastic opportunity to attract travelers in the New York metropolitan area."

To celebrate the route,  Eastern is offering tickets starting at $199 roundtrip through Nov. 18, including all taxes and fees. And all bags, including golf bags and sports equipment, fly free.

The airline, formerly a charter operator known as Dynamic International Airways, also flies to  Miami; Port au Prince, Haiti; Guayaquil, Ecuador; and Georgetown, Guyana.
