Hong Kong Airlines has begun flying to the U.S.
The launch of the carrier's Hong Kong-Los Angeles route
Monday also marked the first regular Airbus A350 service to Los Angeles
International Airport, the airline said.
Hong Kong Airlines will fly the route four times per week
until Jan. 15 and then begin daily Hong Kong-Los Angeles service. Hong Kong's
A350-900 aircraft are configured with a business class with lie-flat seats and an
economy cabin.
The debut of the Los Angeles flight follows Hong Kong's June
launch of transpacific service with flights to Vancouver.
The carrier plans to begin San Francisco service in March
followed by New York service later in 2018. It will compete with legacy Hong
Kong carrier Cathay Pacific on each of those routes.
