Los Angeles International Airport and retail developer Westfield have completed $70.5 million in improvements to Terminal 6.

City-owned airport operator Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) improved 22,000 square feet of dining, retail and common areas, and added more than more than 20 retail and dining outlets, including restaurants The Marketplace by Wolfgang Puck, Osteria by Fabio Viviani and Wahoo's Fish Taco.

The design motif of the common areas was inspired by the concept of driving down Sunset Boulevard from downtown L.A. to the ocean.

The 20-month project was part of an $8.5 billion improvement program that included upgrades to the airport's Terminal 2 completed in February.

LAX is the third-busiest U.S. airport after Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta and Chicago O'Hare. The airport served 74.9 million passengers last year.
